What is the way forward after agit-prop, aga-sagas and the masquerade of media lifestyle 'fiction'? Where do you stand? In spring 2002 Birmingham's 'excellent' Tindal Street Press will publish an anthology of short stories by women. We're looking for distinctive new writing that's clear-eyed, vigorous and about how we live now. What has changed and what has stayed the same? No new men, canape hells or cyber sex please. Tindal Street Press, an independent publishing house, aims to forge a strong identity for contemporary literary fiction. Established in Birmingham, we are now expanding to promote writers from other English regions. Tindal Street Press are particularly committed to the short-story form: this anthology follows on from the prize-winning Hard Shoulder and 'Writing the City' (October 2001) - a vibrant collection of stories celebrating Birmingham's cultural diversity.
