The Executioner's Art by David Fine
Royal Hallamshire University Hospital : Post Mortem Report
Death occurred through delibrate traumatic damage inflicted by abrasive paticles from a steel-finishing tool. The attack was most intense around the pelvis, the head and the back of the hands: the individual was alternately attempting to protect his face and genitalia with his hands. Which entails that the individual was castrated alive. The extreme damage to both eye sockets, then the frontal lobes of the brain would only have occured after the individual became incapable of raising his arms. He remained fully conscious and aware until then.
Who is the man sandblasted to death? The police investigate, and Singleterry's department, caught up in their own web of stupidity and malice, hides evidence and lies to the press.
Thirty years on, the truth is unmasked. Can retribution ever match the suffering of past injustices? Or has revenge fatally distorted the distinction between victim and murderer?
